Our Peruvian Family . . .

The house we are staying at is about a 5 minute walk from downtown. Although it’s a bit dangerous, we believe there is a low chance of being robbed, but high chance of being hit by a car. There are many streets in Cusco, where you say a quick prayer, look both ways, run, and hope for the best.

Here's a picture of the street Jackie and I walk down each day. It may not look dangerous from this picture, but with the cars flying by at 20 mph and a 2 foot sideway its certainly a challenge

We are staying with Marcos and Paty who have a son (hijo), Fabian, and daughter (hija), Flavia. The entire house is about 750 square feet for 6 people (personas), which after the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards sleepover of 8 in a 550 sq foot apartment seems pretty spacious.

Here's a picture of the townhouse . . .

Children in Peru are extremely outgoing. Fabian (7) and Flavia (4) are very similar to kids in the US. They were extremely excited about our presents for them. Fabian loves his matchbox cars and Flavia could not stop saying Dora after she got her Dora figure. Flavia hates having her hair brushed in the morning and Fabian puts more butter on his bread than we thought was humanly possible. They certainly remind us of a few nieces and nephews that we have back in the states.
